Kentucky State Requirement Details for Real Estate Continuing Education

The CE Shop is an approved school in Kentucky: N-0079 (KY State Board for Proprietary Education)

Every year, six (6) clock hours of Real Estate Continuing Education is required.

  • Real Estate Continuing Education is due on 12/31 each year.
  • Three (3) of the required hours need to be in a law topic. These are noted in our catalog as Mandatory hours.
  • Every four (4) years you will also need to complete a six (6) hour KY core course which can be taken only in a classroom setting. The due date of this course is based on your birth date. Please refer to the KREC website if you have further questions about this requirement or when it is due by. Currently we do not offer this course.
  • Per Kentucky guidelines, you will be allowed to attempt the final exam on each of your courses twice (75% passing rate). If you fail the second attempt, you will need to start your course over from the beginning.
  • Course approvals expire at the end of the calendar year so courses need to be completed prior to 11pm CST on December 31 to ensure that the Commission will recognize the credit hours taken.

Immediately upon real estate course completion, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five (5) years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Licensees are encouraged to retain copies of their Certificates of Completion in the event that they are audited by the state. Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your Certificate(s) of Completion with your renewal. You will need to fill in the name of your Principal Broker on each certificate of completion.

Real estate course completions are recorded with KREC each Friday as requested by KREC. We report on Fridays of each week or whichever business day directly follows if it falls on a Holiday. It may take 2-4 business days from the time we report your hours before the Commission updates your license and/or updates their website with the hours.

Please enter your individual license number correctly and fully when prompted in the registration process to ensure the reporting of your hours takes place.
